These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the website at lancesecurity.co.ke and your engagement with the services, products, and maintenance contracts provided by Lance Security Systems ("we", "us", or "our"). By accessing our website or engaging our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Kenya, including the Consumer Protection Act, 2012, the Data Protection Act, 2019, the Electronic Transactions Act, 2021, and all applicable regulations of the Communications Authority of Kenya and OSHA Kenya.
1. About Us
Lance Security Systems is a Kenyan company providing security systems installation and maintenance (CCTV, access control, electric fencing, burglar alarms, intercoms), fire safety services (fire alarm installation, fire suppression systems, fire extinguisher servicing, fire safety training), electrical works, and the supply and sale of related equipment and products. We operate across all 47 counties in Kenya with our principal office in Nairobi.
2. Website Use
2.1 Acceptable Use
You agree to use our website only for lawful purposes and in a manner that does not infringe the rights of others. You must not:
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of our website or systems
- Submit false or misleading information in any form or enquiry
- Use automated tools to scrape, crawl, or harvest content from our website without our written consent
- Transmit any material that is harmful, offensive, or in violation of Kenyan law
2.2 Accuracy of Information
While we take care to ensure the accuracy of product descriptions, pricing, and service information on our website, errors may occasionally occur. We reserve the right to correct errors and update information at any time without notice. Prices are displayed in Kenyan Shillings (KES) and are inclusive of applicable taxes unless otherwise stated.
3. Quotes and Enquiries
Submitting a quote request, contact form, or service enquiry through our website does not constitute a binding contract. Quotes provided by us are valid for 30 days from the date of issue unless otherwise stated. We reserve the right to decline any enquiry or order at our discretion.
Site surveys conducted by our engineers are provided free of charge and without obligation. A written quote will follow the survey. Work commences only upon written acceptance of the quote and, where applicable, payment of a deposit.
4. Products and Orders
4.1 Product Availability
Product listings on our website are subject to availability. We endeavour to keep stock information accurate but cannot guarantee that all listed products are in stock at the time of your order. If a product is unavailable after you place an order, we will notify you and offer a refund, alternative product, or an estimated delivery timeline.
4.2 Pricing
All prices are in Kenyan Shillings (KES). Where a sale price is displayed, it applies only while stock lasts or during the stated promotion period. We reserve the right to change prices at any time without prior notice, but price changes will not affect orders already confirmed and paid.
4.3 Payment
We accept payment via M-Pesa (Lipa Na M-Pesa STK Push), bank transfer, and cash on delivery for select locations. Payment must be received and confirmed before goods are dispatched. For large orders or installations, we may require a deposit (typically 50%) before work commences, with the balance due on completion.
4.4 Delivery
We deliver to all 47 counties in Kenya. Estimated delivery times are provided at the time of order and are not guaranteed. We are not liable for delays caused by third-party couriers, adverse weather, or circumstances beyond our control. Risk of loss passes to you upon delivery.
4.5 Returns and Refunds
You may return a product within 7 days of delivery if it is faulty, damaged in transit, or materially different from the product described. The product must be unused (where applicable) and in its original packaging. We will inspect returned items and, if the return is accepted, provide a replacement or full refund at our discretion.
We do not accept returns for products that have been installed, customised, or specially ordered for you, unless they are defective. To initiate a return, contact us at info@lancesecurity.co.ke within the return window.
5. Installation and Services
5.1 Scope of Work
The scope of all installation and service work is defined in the written quote or service agreement accepted by you. Any changes to scope must be agreed in writing and may result in additional charges. We are not responsible for work or materials outside the agreed scope.
5.2 Site Access and Preparation
You are responsible for ensuring that our engineers have safe and unobstructed access to the site on the agreed installation date. Any delays caused by lack of access, unavailable utilities, or unsafe site conditions may result in rescheduling fees. Where structural works (e.g. wall chasing, electrical groundwork) are required as a prerequisite, these are your responsibility unless explicitly included in our quote.
5.3 Workmanship Warranty
We provide a 12-month workmanship warranty on all installations carried out by our engineers. This covers defects arising from our installation work. It does not cover damage caused by misuse, accidental damage, third-party tampering, or normal wear and tear. Equipment and materials carry the manufacturer's warranty, typically 12 to 24 months.
5.4 OSHA Compliance
We carry out all fire safety and security installations in accordance with applicable Kenyan standards, including OSHA Kenya requirements and manufacturer specifications. Compliance certificates issued by us reflect the condition of the installed system at the time of the service; it is your responsibility to maintain the system and schedule subsequent services to remain compliant.
6. Maintenance Contracts
Annual maintenance contracts ("Contracts") are governed by the specific terms set out in the signed contract agreement between you and us. In addition, the following general terms apply:
- Contracts commence on the date of signing and are valid for 12 months unless otherwise agreed
- Contracts auto-renew unless either party gives 30 days written notice before the renewal date
- Contract fees are payable in advance (annually) or as agreed in the contract schedule
- Emergency callout outside scheduled visits is subject to availability and may attract additional charges at reduced contract rates
- We reserve the right to adjust contract pricing at renewal with 30 days notice
- Cancellation within the contract term forfeits the pro-rata value of visits not yet carried out, except where cancellation is due to our material breach
7. Intellectual Property
All content on this website — including text, images, graphics, logos, icons, and software — is the property of Lance Security Systems or its licensors and is protected by Kenyan and international copyright law. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from our content without our prior written consent.
Product images and brand names of third-party manufacturers (e.g. Hikvision, Dahua, ZKTeco) are used for identification purposes only and remain the property of their respective owners.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by Kenyan law, Lance Security Systems shall not be liable for:
- Indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from the use of our services or products
- Losses arising from circumstances outside our reasonable control (force majeure), including power outages, network failures, civil unrest, or natural disasters
- Security breaches, theft, or incidents that occur despite a properly installed and maintained security system
- Losses arising from your failure to properly maintain installed systems, follow our recommendations, or schedule required services
Our total liability to you in connection with any single incident shall not exceed the amount paid by you for the specific product or service giving rise to the claim.
Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any liability that cannot be excluded under Kenyan law.
9. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Lance Security Systems, its directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from: (a) your breach of these Terms; (b) your use of our website or services in violation of applicable law; or (c) any false information provided by you.
10. Third-Party Services
Our services may integrate with or depend on third-party platforms, including Safaricom M-Pesa for payments. We are not responsible for the availability, terms, or actions of third-party services. Your use of those services is subject to their own terms and conditions.
11. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Kenya. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of our services shall first be referred to good-faith negotiation. If unresolved within 30 days, disputes shall be submitted to the jurisdiction of the courts of Nairobi, Kenya.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may revise these Terms at any time by updating this page. The revised Terms take effect from the date of publication. Continued use of our website or services after publication of changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
