The Magnetic Door Lock 280kg (also known as an electromagnetic lock or maglock) is the most popular locking mechanism for access-controlled doors in Kenya. With a holding force of 280 kg (600 lbs), this lock securely holds standard single-leaf doors in offices, server rooms, apartment lobbies, and commercial premises.

The lock operates on a fail-safe principle: it locks when energised and releases when power is cut. This ensures occupants can always exit during a power failure or fire emergency, complying with Kenyan building safety regulations. A built-in MOV (Metal Oxide Varistor) surge suppressor protects the lock circuitry from voltage spikes common in the Kenyan power grid.

The compact aluminium housing measures 250 x 50 x 25 mm and mounts neatly to the top of the door frame. The armature plate attaches to the door itself using the included Z-bracket for inward-opening doors or L-bracket for outward-opening doors. Installation accommodates both wooden and aluminium frames with the versatile bracket system.

Drawing just 380 mA at 12V DC, this lock is energy-efficient and compatible with standard access control power supplies. A built-in door position sensor (optional wiring) provides door status feedback to your access control panel, enabling open-door alarms and audit trail logging.
