2.5mm² Fire Resistant Cable (100m roll)

The 2.5mm² Fire Resistant Cable is the heavier-duty counterpart to the 1.5mm² version, designed for power circuits within fire safety systems that demand higher current carrying capacity. This cable is essential for powering fire alarm panel mains supplies, emergency lighting central battery systems, smoke extract fans, fire shutters, and sprinkler pump control circuits.

Manufactured by Prysmian to BS 7629 and IEC 60331 standards, this cable maintains full circuit integrity for a minimum of 2 hours at 950°C. The 2.5mm² stranded copper conductors provide a current rating suitable for longer cable runs and higher-powered equipment. Mica tape insulation around each conductor ensures continued electrical performance even after the outer materials have combusted.

The low-smoke, zero-halogen (LSZH) outer sheath is a critical safety feature in occupied buildings. During a fire, conventional PVC cables release dense black smoke containing hydrochloric acid and other toxic gases. LSZH cables produce minimal smoke and no halogenic acids, maintaining visibility for evacuating occupants and reducing respiratory hazards for firefighters.

The cable is supplied in a 100-metre roll with red outer sheath for fire circuit identification. It is suitable for surface, conduit, and trunking installation in accordance with BS 7671 wiring regulations. The cable can be installed alongside standard cables in shared containment systems, clearly distinguished by its red colour.
